This photo makes me think of spring rather than summer, but as I took the image in August at the Calgary Zoo, I used "summer" in the title.

This is a reminder of a most enjoyable day on a homestead south of the city, near Nanton. It belongs to Jim Coutts, and he has wonderful gardens around his home. The areas of Poppies are always my favourite.

The colour red looks really good today - kind of cold and has been raining all day, just like yesterday. The sun is supposed to come out the next two days.

The Black-capped Chickadee is the most common bird to fly down to one's hand (my daughter's in this photo) here in Calgary. I have only had these, plus Boreal Chickadees and Red-breasted Nuthatches on my hand but will hope for a White-breasted Nuthatch and maybe even a Downy Woodpecker this winter. Thanks everyone!
