Happened to notice this rather damaged Clearwing Moth on a walk at Carburn Park yesterday evening. I so rarely see one of these moths, so I was thrilled to see this one. Always makes me wonder how an insect manages to fly with part of one wing missing.

Yes, a familiar sight - tried this 25-year-old Clearwing Moth on a different Sunflower, not the orange one.

There is something "strange" about this photo, which maybe someone will pick up! The gorgeous orange Sunflower was bought at Safeway last week. The insect - a Clearwing Moth. Now, what is wrong with this image, LOL??

For the first and only time, I used someone's magnifying lens and took a photo through it of this moth. I was surprised that it came out as well as it did. Much cheaper than paying hundreds of dollars for a macro lens!
