The pumpkin month

28 Oct 2010 178
A few of the pumpkins/gourds on display in the ENMAX Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo. Tropical butterfly season has come to an end, and the tropical plants in the butterfly room have been replaced by this autumn display.

A splash of orange

Totally unoriginal and uninspiring, LOL, but Halloween just wouldn't seem right without a real pumpkin and that gorgeous splash of brilliant orange. Actually, I took this photo two years ago, I see!

May the bokeh of light and hope, strength and courage shine down on each and every one of you who is affected in one way or another by cancer, either yourself or a loved one. Perhaps, one day, this disease will be completely eradicated from the world - may the bokeh of light guide all those who search for "The Cure". On a personal note, Penny, all your friends including me are thinking of you. Bird walks are strangely quiet without your infectious laughter and great sense of humour. We want to see you when winter birding begins closer to Christmas!!

Bald Eagles

26 Oct 2007 216
I was lucky today that the two Bald Eagles at the Calgary Zoo were more at eye level than high up in a tree or on their nesting platform. Lucky, too, that they were standing close together.

Just a reminder, everyone, that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. My heart goes out to anyone who is battling this disease, and their families and friends! Thank you, fd, for enabling me to make this poster.
