I spent a bit of time at the Calgary Zoo this afternoon, after getting no photos worth keeping the last two days of outings : ). This male Peacock and another one were putting up a bit of a fight on the path where I was standing, seemingly oblivious to the humans standing watching.

It seems almost impossible to get a photo of a Peahen, which is such a pity, as they have such beautiful feathers. This image was actually taken indoors there, and came out much too dark. Think I lightened it a little too much : )

When I was at the Calgary Zoo recently, a Peacock was strutting fairly close by. He gave a bit of a shake and I saw this small, rather downy feather flutter to the ground. Me being me, I couldn't resist bringing it home and photographing it, LOL!

This Peacock did a great job of posing for me several times at the Calgary Zoo yesterday. How I need to look at this glorious irridescence today, as we are back to WINTER - yet again!

The display feathers on this Peacock looked rather worn, but the central area closer to the body still had colour.

Dipping into a few old, digital photos whilst waiting for spring to finally arrive! Came across this Peacock at the Pasu Sheep Farm in Alberta back in June 2005.

When I was at the Calgary Zoo on 12th May 2005, I was the only visitor in sight and was treated to a most wonderful, close display by this Peacock. Perhaps he thought I was a "possibility", LOL.

Seen at the Pasu Sheep Farm, north of Calgary. This bird's feathers were the worse for wear but the beautiful colour of the head and neck remained. This was # 69 on 8th November 2006.

How different the rear view of a Peacock is compared to the multicoloured front view! This one gave a great performance both facing me and then turning its back towards me.

Such spectacular birds! This one was in a large cage on a sheep farm north of Calgary. Its outer feathers were quite worn and bare but the central feathers still showed their brilliant sheen.
