Yummy Jelly Babies

01 Mar 2014 283
Sometimes, you just have to play with your food, lol. I love these Jelly Babies and was lucky enough that my youngest daughter gave me a packet of them for Christmas. Grabbed this photo, as it caught my eye when I was looking for something with warm colours to post today. Today, it's -26C (windchill -37C), tonight will be -32C (windchill -42C) and tomorrow morning will be -29C (windchill -38C). Am I going out this weekend? NO! We are under a Wind Chill Warning for the whole weekend, as a very cold Arctic air mass and moderate winds are giving extreme wind chill values. These -40C wind chills are being experienced by much of Alberta this weekend. At these extreme wind chill values, frostbite on exposed skin may occur in less than 10 minutes. Taken from information on the Weather Network website.

Christmas Smarties

A good thing I didn't eat any more of these before "playing" with them for a photo - I only just had enough left to do it, ha. Loading my three images at just before 12:45 a.m.. My three alarm clocks are set to go off at 4:10 a.m., as I have to be up and ready for a Bird Count in the Cochrane Wildlife Reserve, north west of Calgary, all day tomorrow. Next week is going to be a really busy week, with the last two Bird Counts, my new furnace, etc. being installed over two days, doctor's appointment and hopefully a birding trip to the mountains on the Saturday (if I have any energy left).

Five little Jelly Babies standing in a row

I love Jelly Babies and used to be able to buy them at Mark's & Spencers, until these stores were shut down a few years ago. My oldest daughter knows a place where you can still buy them, and so a packet was amongst her gifts to me on Christmas morning : )

Jelly Babies

Does anyone else know about Jelly Babies? I used to find it impossible to resist buying these when we had Marks & Spencers in the city years ago. My daughter from Vancouver (who is in Calgary for a week) had recently posted a macro of these delicious, mouth-watering candies, so I have been drooling at the thought of them. The store where one can now buy these treats is way across the city from where I live, so I never buy them. When I met my daughter at the Stampede Grounds yesterday morning, to soak up a little of the atmosphere of the Calgary Stampede, she suddenly presented me with a bag of these Jelly babies. When I got home, it was all I could do to summon up enough self-control to NOT eat them all before I had taken a few photos of them. However, I had eaten every single one before I downloaded my photos to my computer, only to discover that not a single photo was nice and sharp. This is the only one that is just about usable! Mmm ... my mouth is watering! Hope yours is, too! Thanks, Rachel!
