This morning, I overslept by an hour, so barely have time to even upload my photos. I suspect this was the result of the stress of being out on a volunteer shift yesterday, knowing that the community I live in was in the path of a tornado that passed over our city and wondering if my home was still standing, plus having to deal with an error with my Internet security system the evening before! Will have to add descriptions, etc. later today. Took this photo when friends and I stopped at a picnic spot along the Akamina Parkway in Waterton Lakes National Park on 18 July 2015. Unlike here in Calgary, where Goat's-beard has taken over large parts of our natural areas, I only noticed maybe four or five plants of this noxious weed.

When friends, Linda and Tony, arrived in Calgary after travelling from Montreal by train, they had two or three days in Calgary before we took off for a week down to Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. We spent a day at the Calgary Zoo and then spent a day - very wet! - in the Banff/Lake Louise area. Cascade Ponds is on the Lake Minnewanka loop drive, 300 m (0.2 mi) north of the Trans-Canada Highway. Taken on 9 September 2012, before the non-stop rain set in. "Cascade Ponds was created when gravel pits were transformed to a day use area, complete with wooden bridges, grassy banks, picnic tables, firepits, and cooking shelters."
