It always takes my breath away when I/we happen to suddenly come across either a single bright red fungus or a small group of them deep in the forest. Russula sp., found on August 17th at Rod Handfield's property.

This bright yellow Russula mushroom was growing in the West Bragg Creek Natural Area back on 22nd August. Though I do see yellow fungi, I don't often see a bright yellow one like this.

I've always liked the edging of this fungus - makes a neat pattern especially when viewed in a larger size.
