Merry Christmas, everyone!

Pam, wishing you, your hubby and your three furry companions a wonderful, relaxed, peaceful Christmas Day! Absolutely loved your Christmas card that you posted - very clever and beautiful. I'm sure everyone loved it and was impressed at your skill. I can only begin to imagine how much effort went into creating it. Will be thinking of you.
Adding this very quickly this evening (Christmas Eve), as I am holding my breath that my computer won't freeze any moment. Pretty well impossible to use - it lasted just 10 minutes this morning. Technician was unable to replicate the problem I'm having, and could find nothing wrong to fix. So annoying! Anyway, I send my Christmas wishes to each of you and hope that tomorrow will be a happy day for you, whether you spend it with family/friends or quietly by yourself. If you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope your day will be good, anyway. To my daughter - sorry, I just had to use this little snowman before giving it to you : )
Magic hour

This photo was taken two days ago, on 10 November 2016, when I decided on the spur of the moment to do a short drive SW of the city. I haven't been taking much in the way of photos the last couple of weeks and have been feeling less and less motivated to go out.
However, on this particular day, I wanted to go to the Leighton Art Centre. By mistake, it took me much longer to get there than it should have done, despite following their map, and I arrived there five minutes after they closed. I asked if I could still wander part way down the hill to take a few photos. As the lady said, it was 'magic hour', with a wonderful sunset. The valley below and the distant mountains (zoomed in this photo) almost disappeared in an orange haze. It did, indeed, feel magical.
This wasn't my first visit, as I had been decades ago with my youngest daughter's Kindergarten class. In more recent years, I had been a couple of times with botany friends, to list all the plant species that we could find.

For those affected by Hurricane Sandy

Like so many others, I have spent quite a lot of time watching the CNN Headline News the last day or two, about Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy. The power of Mother Nature is unbeatable. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have suffered, and are still suffering, the effects of this major storm. How people ever recover from something so devastating always has me shaking my head - but most people do. The power of determination and the strong feelings of community bring people together, and they push on till at least some semblance of "normal" can return. We are thinking of you all!
A fiery glow

It's only -8C (windchill -16C) today, but it is yet another dull, gloomy day. Took a few brightly coloured flower shots at the Zoo this morning, when I visited the new Conservatory with a few friends, but haven't had a chance to go through them yet. So, I'm posting this image, taken on a cold, stay-at-home kind of day. I guess it's another of those "What is it?" photos. When I did that last time, the right answer appeared in the very first comment box (from Rebecca, Red~Star), LOL.
