I love the various Bromeliads that grow at the Calgary Zoo. I think this one is called Aechmea fasciata. Taken on 17 February 2012.

Isn't this an amazing plant? Love the mix of colours and the spiky, pink bracts (?) Will look up the ID later, as I have a volunteer shift to go to today. Photographed in the ENMAX Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo on February 17th. Later: I think this plant is a Bromeliad called Aechmea fasciata. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aechmea_fasciata
