I'm always fascinated by these flowers, no matter how often I see them. This plant is growing in the Butterfly House at the Calgary Zoo. Most people I see in there don't even seem to notice this gorgeous vine.

Finally got to the Zoo this afternoon - hadn't been for quite a while. This beautiful vine is growing in the Butterfly House. It is unbearably hot and humid in there, so taking photos is not a particularly pleasant experience, but seeing the images later at home makes it all well worth it : ).

This is a Passionflower seen in the Butterfly House at the Calgary Zoo. I had seen lots of photos of Passionflowers by other people, but I had always pictured this flower being more like a Water Lily and huge. So, when I photographed this much smaller flower growing on a vine, I didn't realize it was the same thing. Such a strange looking flower! Really quite magical. This particular kind is called Lavender Lady.

Apparently, this Passionflower vine was growing in someone's garden. This flower was brought to show us when we all met at the Reader Rock Garden on Thursday morning. Not a very good photo of it, but it gives an idea of what spectacular and strange flowers these are.
