On 17 December 2011, I was on the Banff/Canmore Christmas Bird Count (in the Rocky Mountains). This was the 37th consecutive year for this event. My small group covered the Harvey Heights area. The meeting place for the various groups was at the home of Colleen Campbell, who so generously opens up her home to us each year, including giving us a lovely warm place to go back to, to eat our lunches and to finalize the lists of birds seen by the end of the day. Colleen is a long-time Wildlife Researcher, who focused exclusively on grizzly bears from 1993 until 2006. She is also known for her incredibly beautiful artwork - photography is another of her keen interests. She had just taken in two adorable little rescue kittens - they were so soft and gentle! There was room in my backback to have put both kittens in to take home with me - but I thought Colleen might notice that they were missing : ) Colleen, thank you so much from us all, for your generosity and welcome - and that includes the welcome that Jesse always gives everyone. What a sweet, intelligent dog she is!

Another photo of one of the rescue kittens that were adopted by Colleen in Canmore (near Banff). I got the chance to photograph both of them when we met at Colleen's house for the Banff/Canmore Christmas Bird Count on 17th December 2011.

I managed to rescue one of the miniature Roses I bought from Safeway recently. They lasted such a short time - this was the last one that was still in good shape.
Why is it that simple things aren't always simple??? The last two days, I've been dealing with reading and signing legal documents and wanted to fax one page to the Solicitor in England immediately. Took half an hour to get that one page faxed (after I finally persuaded a Pharmacist to witness my signature). Why? Because the woman typed in the wrong last digit! Trying to get an electronic transfer from a Bank in England to my Bank here is proving to be a hassle, too. I've been told I need to provide a Sort Code - and I had read about that on the Internet, too. My Bank is insisting that there is no such thing and for my friend to simply leave the box empty and just provide the address of my Bank. Guess we'll try that and if not, will have to go back to my Bank for a third time. No wonder my Flickr time is so limited these days, ha!!! And no wonder that my brain is barely functioning - it's just a churning mess, lol. Mind you, I did meet with two good friends for lunch today - I think I only go out for a meal once, maybe twice, in a year, so it made a lovely change. Thanks Joan and Margit, it was so good to get together. Happy 80th birthday, Margit! And, Joan, I WILL post my brother's second drawing soon - promise.
Softness

I liked the soft, delicate colours in this photo of a tiny water droplet on a Chrysanthemum petal. Taken on 10th December - haven't dared to try any more macros, wanting to make sure my dizziness was completely over before I bend my neck to take a few more images. I have to have my camera something like 5" or 6" away from the object that I am trying to photograph, unlike you DSLR owners, who (I think) can stand way back to take your macro images. Sigh ....

Not a spectacular shot, but there was just something I liked about the pale colours and the bokeh : ) Some kind of plant on its last legs, at Reader Rock Garden, taken on 22nd October - oh, LAST year, LOL!
