This orange Hibiscus flower in the Enmax Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo was just huge. Love the vivid colour, the crinkled petals and the neat centre of these flowers. Need to dash, as I have to get out for a bit of walking this afternoon. Yesterday's morning trip was all by car, so my pedometer didn't get much use : ) Later: got home just in time early this evening. After walking around the Reader Rock Garden all afternoon and then calling in at Fish Creek Park to check on the Great Horned Owls, the sky turned grey and we had a short-lived thunder and hail storm : )

It didn't seem right to use an orange (not red) Poppy for my Remembrance Day tribute earlier today, which is why I used a Poppy pin instead and kept this image as just one of my "daily three". Photographed late September last year at the Reader Rock Garden.

When I saw this almost perfect flower blooming in a friend's garden, I just knew I had to photograph it, LOL! I love those petals : ) Our weather has been beautiful for the long weekend - though it is rain that we need! This afternoon, the Weaselhead Society held its annual Volunteer Thank You Barbecue in North Glenmore Park. A very enjoyable afternoon, with great food provided by the same gentleman as previous years - it felt so good to have a proper meal for once, LOL! Afterwards, I went to the Reader Rock Garden which wasn't all that far away, to take a few photos of bright, colourful flowers. It was horribly windy, so a real challenge to catch any flower head in the viewfinder, LOL. Have a bad feeling that I'll find a lot of blurry shots when I get them on to my computer. A Carnation that I bought about a week before Christmas. There was just one different flower in the small bunch and really that is why I bought them - a lovely white one with red edges.
