Usually, these Blue-winged Teal are off in the distance when I occasionally see them. Got a closer look at one on May 21st, in south west Calgary. www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Blue-winged_Teal/id en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue-winged_Teal

This male Blue-winged Teal was resting on a half-submerged log in a local wetland. The males have this blue-grey head with a white crescent on the face.
