Some of you will be familiar with this rather beautiful, larger than a Dandelion, seedhead. Unfortunately, despite its beauty, it is a highly invasive species and widespread. This one, along with many others, was growing at the Erlton/Roxboro Natural Area in Calgary, on 27 July 2011. The background is of another invasive weed, Baby's Breath. It is quite likely that someone threw an old pot of these tiny, white flowers over the fence from the cemetery next door, and they have spread and keep spreading. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tragopogon_dubius The Erlton/Roxboro Natural Area is located on the east side of the Elbow River above the southwest community of Roxborough. It was completed in 1996. This is one of the richest areas in Calgary for wildlowers, but unfortunately, many non-native plants and shrubs have taken over much of the area - such as Caragana, Goat's-beard, Baby's Breath and Yellow Clematis.

Oops... forgot I had started uploading a few photos. Got caught up in getting a few things ready for a bus trip tomorrow down to near the US border. We (a group of Naturalists) are going just for the day, which makes it a long day with the journey taking about three hours each way! My memory cards are all deleted, my batteries all charged. Now have to see to the less important things, such as food, etc., LOL! The weather is supposed to be beautiful, and I am SO much hoping to be able to get some nice photos. Oh, I treated myself to six roses today - normally, I would never buy roses for myself, but a change from Tulips was much needed :) And it was my birthday - and I'm worth it, LOL! Shows how long it has been since I was near a rose - I totally forgot about the thorns till too late!

Two flowers from the most recent bunch of roses that I bought from Safeway. I just cannot get either of my digital cameras to record the accurate colour, which is so disappointing.
