Longhorn Beetle / Pseudogaurotina cressoni

This photo was taken on 23 June 2015, on a botany walk at Griffith Woods, off Highway 8 in Calgary. Whenever I am on a walk in the summer, I tend to check out wild roses in case I can find one of these beautiful, iridescent beetles. They are very small (10 - 14 mm), so are not easy to spot. I believe I have the correct ID, but would welcome any confirmation or correction - thanks! Will add a different, previously posted shot that was taken a long time ago, in a comment box below.

Wasn't very happy with the original photo, so decided to crop to the centre.

This is a special rose to wish my youngest daughter (Silver Pomegranate) a very Happy Birthday tomorrow, 12th December! I think I know what you'll be doing, so enjoy the pampering : )
Evening sunlight

Quite a pretty sight seen on a recent evening walk. This wild rosebud was covered in white seed fluff from all the Poplar trees and the sunlight was streaming through, making the fluff glisten.
My treat to myself

Oops... forgot I had started uploading a few photos. Got caught up in getting a few things ready for a bus trip tomorrow down to near the US border. We (a group of Naturalists) are going just for the day, which makes it a long day with the journey taking about three hours each way! My memory cards are all deleted, my batteries all charged. Now have to see to the less important things, such as food, etc., LOL! The weather is supposed to be beautiful, and I am SO much hoping to be able to get some nice photos. Oh, I treated myself to six roses today - normally, I would never buy roses for myself, but a change from Tulips was much needed :) And it was my birthday - and I'm worth it, LOL! Shows how long it has been since I was near a rose - I totally forgot about the thorns till too late!

These add such a welcome splash of bright colour in winter time especially.

The Wild Rose became the official flower of Alberta in 1930. As well as adding a bright splash of colour to any walk, it also produces rosehips, which are rich in Vitamin C.
