The Guernsey Martello Tower here is also home to a Shipwreck Museum. Gordon Lightfoot recorded "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" about the dreadful and tragic loss of all 29 hands when the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, an American Great Lakes freighter, sank in a Lake Superior storm on November 10, 1975.

"Sail Away" by Pearls Before Swine comes to mind :-) This track is from their 1969 album "These Things Too". I know I did have a vinyl copy of the album but, stupidly, I must have sold it :-(
However, all is not lost 'cos I now have the cd version of the album :-)

ip says this shot was taken on 12 Aug 2016. Nope, it is actually from way, way back in the Archives :-)
The first verse of "Goin' Gone" is ~
There's a Lighthouse in the Harbour
Giving guidance with its light
But I had no-one to return to
As I wandered through the night
This song written by Patrick Alger, Bill Dale & Fred Koller features on Kathy Mattea's album "Untasted Honey" from 1987. One of my all-time fave albums. I still have the cassette version, a vinyl copy and, of course, the cd :-)

Two of my all-time favourite singers feature in the video for my 'Sight and Sound' entry i.e. Dougie MacLean and Kathy Mattea.
Last evening Helen and I went to see Dougie in Concert at The Stables, Wavendon, Milton Keynes. Poor old Dougie was suffering from the flu but it was stiil a magical and emotional night. Dougie always gets the audience to sing along with the choruses. Normally I only sing when the nearest person is a couple of miles away but even I joined in :-)
I well remember taking this Guernsey shot way back in 2011. It was blowin' a gale and I thought that any minute I might take off like Mary Poppins :-) And, the waves were crashing against the rocks!

I have so much to thank 'Sight and Sound' for. Often posts mean that there are artists out there that I have never heard of or if I have heard of them I haven't properly listened to their music. Or, when I am searching for musical links for my posts I come across musical gems.
Two artists particularly spring to mind, both tragically no longer with us, and they are Steve Goodman and Warren Zevon. Without 'Sight and Sound' I would have likely missed out on Steve's and Warren's wonderful music.
For this post I am concentrating on Warren's music.
I am very, very, very, tenuously linking my photo to "Mutineer". A mutineer can be a sailor, who rebels or refuses to obey the orders of a person in authority. I'm sure the guy in my shot was a sailor and he was, clearly, disobeying an order to "please, move away from the edge" :-))

Been a little side-tracked with computer things in the last few days!! My Desktop computer was ancient like me and I have been thinking for a while I will have to get one of a more recent vintage!!!! I know you shouldn’t feel pressurised by these big organisations but with support being withdrawn for Windows XP I capitulated and have bought a new HP Desktop computer. It took a lot longer to set up that I thought it should!!! I don’t know why they have to put incomprehensible diagrams in the box that just irritate and confuse my little brain!!! Anyway, we are now up and running :-)))
Now to photography -
“Lomo” style photos feature unique colouring, high contrast, soft focus and dark vignettes. You could use a Russian toy camera like the Lomo LC-A to get these results or you can try for a similar effect using photo software.
