DROSTE EFFECT
I used the Droste Effect filter in GIMP Photo Software :-) ipernity says I took the photo on 29 November 2019. Nope!! I actually took the photo on 27 November 2019. On the 29th I added an 'Art Border' and ipernity has clearly decided to use this date :-))
And, for 'Sight and Sound' ~
There seem to be quite a lot of songs about time but one of my all-time faves is "Time Passes By" by Kathy Mattea from her 1991 album of the same name. It was written by John Vezner (Kathy's husband) and Susan Longacre.
I have loved Kathy's music since early 1990 when I bought her album "Untasted Honey". This was when it was on cassette!! :-)) We have been so very fortunate to have seen Kathy in Concert a number of times over the years when she has visited the UK. In fact we saw her back on 29 January 2019 when Kathy played at The Stables, Wavendon, Milton Keynes :-)

Canons Ashby

Canons Ashby House is the ancestral home of the Dryden family. Clara Dryden, born 1859, was a gifted painter and painted many of the scenes at Canons Ashby including the interior of the house and the gardens. Polly Swann married Chris Dryden in 2000. Polly is a keen amateur photographer and had the idea to produce a book called "Canons Ashby Then & Now". This book features watercolours by Clara Dryden and photographs by Polly of the same scene shown side by side. It is remarkable how little has changed since 1710.
I have been inspired by Polly's book to try a slight variation of Polly's idea. That is to take photographs of the house and gardens and then give my photos a painterly type effect. Over the years I have tried lots of different software/filters and a while ago I came across the "Dream Smoothing" filter in 'GIMP Photo' software.
Maybe not to everyone's taste but I have grown to very much like the effect this filter produces :-))
Here is my first picture of the house given the 'Dream Smoothing' effect and this could be the start of more 'Dream Smoothing' Photos :-)))
Also, a bit of a tenuous 'Sight and Sound' link but I have chosen "Picture Show" by John Prine & Tom Petty.

Probably GIMP should have been taken away from me but 'tis too late now :-)
This Goose has been given the 'Symmetrize' treatment :-)
Which leads to "Green Eyes" by Kate Wolf.
Kate is another singer taken from us way too soon!
I know it is Nina Gerber playing acoustic guitar but I would really like to know who is playing bass/singing harmony.

I feel like I am in heaven 'cos I have come across a version of "Desperado" by Linda Ronstadt and The Eagles :-) "Desperado" was written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey. One of my absolute all-time fave songs.
A pretty desperate and tenuous link follows :-)
According to Thesaurus, 'Desperado' can mean 'Outlaw'. I think the guy in this shot, taken in Amsterdam way back in 2004, looks a bit like an 'Outlaw'. Job done methinks :-)

For ages and ages I have been trying to come up with some pictures of wheels to link to "Wheels" written by Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman.

"Wheels" is one of my all-time fave songs and, for me, the two best versions are by the Flying Burrito Brothers and Emmylou Harris.

Fate's Right Hand" by Rodney Crowell includes the line -
"We All Go To Heaven On A Hard Disc Drive"
And, this shot is of part of a hard disc drive assembly. So, that is a good enough 'Sight and Sound' link for moi :-)))
I am giving two links. With the first link I can't seem to get a decent sound level on my computer when viewing the video via Firefox. With the second link the sound level is much better but the picture quality is disappointing. If I view the first link via the Edge Browser the sound level is much, much better!! Computers defeat me sometimes :-)))
