"Fire It Up"

29 Sep 2016 13 15 496
Explored! ~ Thank you very much :-))) I have previously used the original colour version of this shot but I am now using this toned version. The 24-litre Napier-Railton is about to be 'fired up' in readiness for its run up Kop Hill. This, of course, allows me to link my photo to "Fire It Up" by Johnny Reid :-) Again 'Sight and Sound' has introduced me to more wonderful music :-) My previous upload was linked to "Picture Of You" by Johnny Reid. Larry (thank you, Larry) also gave me a link to "Today I'm Gonna Try And Change The World" by Johnny Reid ~ www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2ACmJPhz3Q Another fantastic track! If the YouTube comments and my research is correct the other guy in the "Fire It Up" video is Alan Frew of Glass Tiger. More new music to check out :-) I don't know the name of the lady singer but I think I may be falling in love :-) I have watched the "Fire It Up" video about twenty times in the last couple of days and my boppin' about has pretty much worn my chair out :-)) Added to ~ Sight and Sound: Pictures & Music ♫ ♪ ♪ ♫ Listen here ~ Fire It Up ~ Johnny Reid

"Hell No (I'm Not Alright)"

The lady from BBC Three Counties Radio was about to be transported up Kop Hill in one of the Ecurie Ecosse racing cars.....a D-Type Jaguar (thank you for identifying the car, Larry) driven by Dick Skipworth....pretty quickly as I remember!! I'm sure that behind the smile she was thinking "Hell No (I'm Not Alright)" :-))) This naturally leads to "Hell No (I'm Not Alright)" by Nanci Griffith :-) I think I may be falling in love with the lady singing harmony and playing the red and white guitar :-) Trouble is I have now discovered that her name is Maura Kennedy and Maura is married to Pete, the guy next to her :-( Added to ~ Sight and Sound ♫ ♪ ♪ ♫ Listen here ~ Hell No (I'm Not Alright) ~ Nanci Griffith

"Take It To The Limit"

15 Apr 2016 11 10 632
I believe this is a 1965 4261cc Sunbeam Tiger Mk 1. The guy driving it was clearly taking it to the limit and this, of course, leads me to think of "Take It To The Limit" by The Eagles :-) Written by Randy Meisner, Don Henley and Glenn Frey. It is my favourite Eagles song and one of my all-time fave tracks. I applied a 'Lomoish' effect here that gives high-contrast with unusual saturation and it may be better on black, possibly :-) Added to ~ Sight and Sound ♫ ♪ ♪ ♫ Listen here ~ Take It To The Limit ~ The Eagles

"The Dangling Conversation"

19 Jun 2015 10 12 442
For the second time this year Helen & I have been to see 'The Simon & Garfunkel Story'. Last evening we went to see the show at the Watford Colosseum (our first time visiting this venue). It was another brilliant and magical night and everyone was on their feet at the end of the show! This leads me to this older shot of two lady marshalls deep in conversation at the 2012 Kop Hill Climb. It immediately reminds me of the classic ~ "The Dangling Conversation" :-) Added to ~ Soundtrack to Life Listen here ♫ ♪ ♪ ♫ ~ The Dangling Conversation ~ Simon & Garfunkel

An obvious choice here....well it is for me :-) From Wikipedia - “California Dreamin' was written by John Phillips and Michelle Phillips and released as a single in 1965. The song is #89 in Rolling Stone 's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time” It is very sad to read that Michelle Phillips is the only surviving member of the Mamas & Papas. I figure that finding another road where you've never been and singing that two-wheeled symphony allows me to link my motorcycle photo to “Gypsy Rider” by Gene Clark and Carla Olsen :-) "Crank her over once again Put your face into the wind Find another road where you're never been. Sing that two-wheeled melody The highway symphony You know she'll never understand." This track comes from the 1986 album “So Rebellious a Lover"........another of my all-time faves :-) Added to ~ Soundtrack to Life Listen here ~ Gypsy Rider ~ Gene Clark & Carla Olsen

I was looking thru' some archived shots and was wondering if I could match this shot, taken at the Kop Hill Climb in 2012, to a song about sunglasses! I wasn't for one minute thinking there would be a song about sunglasses on YouTube! Wrong again :-) Nothing against Tracey Ullman.... but, I don't think I will be purchasing this track from Amazon :-) Added to ~ Soundtrack to Life Listen here ~ Sunglasses ~ Tracey Ullman

It might look like Haurel & Lardy have a Christmas Tree in the back of their Ford Model T. And, that is absolutely correct!!!!! They were selling Christmas Trees “Buy One Get One Free”. I don't know why, but I didn't see anyone showing interest in this bargain buy :-)))))

Kop Hill Climb 2014 (4) Added to 'Soundtrack to Life' www.ipernity.com/group/362993 I know this is a pale blue Ford Thunderbird but for the purposes of 'Soundtrack to Life' we have to imagine that this is a 'Silver Thunderbird' 'cos that saves me trying to change its colour in Photoshop :-))) And, for me, the obvious link is “Silver Thunderbird” by Marc Cohn. I don't know why Marc is not spoken about in hushed tones in the same way as Jackson Browne, Rodney Crowell, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Paul Simon etc. would be :-) Marc has written some cracking songs in addition to "Silver Thunderbird" e.g. “Walking In Memphis”, “The Things We've Handed Down”, “Walk Through The World”, “Olana”, “Healing Hands”, “True Companion” …the list is endless :-) Watched it coming up Winslow Down South Park Boulevard Yeah it was looking good from tail to hood Great big fins and painted steel Man it looked just like the bat mobile With my old man behind the wheel Well you could hardly even see him in all of that chrome The man with the plan and the pocket comb But every night it carried him home And I could hear him saying Don't you give me no Buick Son, you must take my word If there's a God in heaven He's got a Silver Thunderbird You can keep your Eldorados And the foreign car's absurd Me, I wanna go down In a Silver Thunderbird................................. Here come the excuses :-))) Those peeps that have been to Kop Hill know that on the steeper part of the Hill you only get to see the cars/bikes at the last split second as they emerge from amongst the bushes and trees. It can also be quite dark in the shady bits! So, I just go with the flow and usually much prefer my blurry efforts as here :-)))
