Explored! Thank you very much :-) The guy here is real. I'm assuming he is playing an electric sitar. His playing was brilliant! I'm not sure if he is sitting on the case for the sitar. On the side it says 'Grant Vibes' and perhaps this is his name :-) The Bird of Prey is real too. I'm not good at identifying Birds of Prey but I am wondering if it is a Peregrine Falcon. Perhaps someone would enlighten me, please? :-) The background is a hoarding that is hiding extensive building work taking place at Jesus College. Now for 'Sight and Sound' I am hoping it is a sitar because I have a tenuous link relating to sitar :-) "Love You To" by The Beatles from their 1966 'Revolver' album features George Harrison's most extensive and adventurous use of the sitar. Entertaining in Oxford

Life seems to be full of irritations lately!! And, I have fallen way behind with ipernity. I think I need to set aside regular times to spend here on ipernity where ip members are considerate, nice, fun and normal :-))) This shot is from back in the Archives. This very talented lady was entertaining the shoppers in Cornmarket Street, Oxford. I think it was quite sad that everyone in my photo seems to be ignoring her. A slightly obscure link for 'Sight and Sound' comes to mind and that is "We're All Alone" by Rita Coolidge :-) Added to ~ Sight and Sound : Pictures & Music ♫ ♪ ♪ ♫ Listen here ~ We're All Alone ~ Rita Coolidge

"Remember When The Music"

A shot from the Archives and my 'Sight and Sound' link is simply 'MUSIC' . I cannot believe I have only just found, on YouTube, "Remember When The Music" by Harry Chapin. Had it not been for 'Sight and Sound' I would have, undoubtedly, missed this gem. Harry died on 16 July 1981 aged 38 years. His car burst into flames after being hit by a tractor-trailer truck. The driver of the truck and passers-by got Harry out of his car. He was flown to hospital but, tragically, died later that day. I listened to the song and then watched the documentary "Harry Chapin: Behind the Music VH1" (available on YouTube). I then had to go out and buy another box of tissues. With a future post I will be using Bruce Springsteen's version of this song from a tribute concert. At this concert Bruce said ~ “Harry instinctively knew that it was going to take a lot more than just love to survive. That is was going to take a strong sense of purpose, of duty and a good clear eye on the dirty ways of the world. So in keeping his promise to himself he reminds us of our promise to ourselves and that tonight alongside Harry is that promise that his spirit would have us remember and honour and recommit to. So, do something and may his song be sung.” Remember when the music Was a glow on the horizon of every newborn day And as we sang, the sun came up to chase the dark away, And life was good, for we knew we could. Remember when the music Brought the night across the valley as the day went down And as we'd hum the melody, we'd be safe inside the sound, And so we'd sleep, we had dreams to keep. Pavlína Bastlová (Per Kelt)

Pavlína Bastlová (flute and vocals) and Štěpán Honc (guitar, cittern) have recorded two albums with the Per Kelt band from the Czech Republic. In October 2011 Pavlina and Štěpán moved to London to perform here. Pavlina and Štěpán regularly entertain the shoppers in Cornmarket Street, Oxford. It has been a while since I have visited Oxford and I was very pleased to see that Pavlína and Štěpán were still drawing an appreciative crowd in Cornmarket Street :-)

"Look"

Just looking thru' some older shots :-) This one, from a while back, was taken in Cornmarket Street, Oxford. This Street is always teeming with shoppers, tourists and the odd photographer :-) I did upload this shot to that other site and at the time there was a bit of an on-line discussion as to what this lady was doing. At the time I said I thought she was demonstrating yoga and advertising yoga classes. I am sure, somewhere, I have another shot that confirms this :-) Anyway, I could say I saw the word "Look" in the background and framed the shot to include this :-) Of course, that ain't the truth' cos I only saw this when I looked at the shot on screen :-))

In October 2011 Štěpán and Pavlína moved to London to perform here.
