Explored! Thank you very much :-)
This is the Octagon Lake with Stowe House in the background.
The Lake kinda divides parts of the garden and I figure a tenuous link for 'Sight and Sound' would be "Across the Great Divide" by Nanci Griffith and Emmylou Harris :-) This song was written Kate Wolf.

I used the original version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with a previous post to 'Sight and Sound'. So, with this shot of the Palladian Bridge @ Stowe Landscape Gardens I figured I would search for a different version. And, I found one by a group called 'Gregorian' :-)
All I know about them comes from Wikipedia; as follows -
"Gregorian is a German band headed by Frank Peterson that performs chant-inspired versions of modern pop and rock songs."

It seemed a good idea to me to add a dash of soft focus to my shot :-) Maybe view in Lightbox, please.

From the National Trust's Stowe Leaflet -
"The grand gardens of Stowe were created by Lord Cobham, a highly influential 18th century aristocrat and politician. At the height of their wealth and power, the Cobham family was richer than the King, and the gardens at Stowe were a bold statement to show this. The gardens quickly became one of the country's first tourist attractions"

From late Thursday evening for some 8 hours through the night until sunrise I was verifying and counting Election votes. Back again on Friday afternoon to do the same. On Saturday we went to an incredible 'Billy Joel Songbook' concert performed by Elio Pace and his awesome Band. Didn't get home 'til well after midnight. Been out with my camera all day today. The result of which is that I am now so far behind here on ip that I could very well meet myself coming back :-)
So, please bear with me whilst I try and catch-up.
With this shot I thought applying a bit of soft focus was a good idea :-)
Stefan says "In my head I can hear - "A Walk in the Park by the Nick Straker Band". Yes, that is a mighty good enough reason for me to add this to 'Soundtrack to Life'. Cheers, Stefan :-)

This is an oldish shot where I have made some very minor enhancements in Photoshop. I also thought some soft focus was a good idea :-)))
The Palladian Bridge, in the foreground, was completed in 1738 probably under the direction of James Gibbs.
The Gothic Temple in the distance was designed by James Gibbs in 1741 and completed about 1748. This is the only building in the Gardens built from ironstone.

I am very grateful to the 'peoples' in my shot for wearing red and pink :-)
You can stay in the Gothic Temple on the hillside. Mind you it is very expensive but would be an amazing experience!! I think a 3-night stay costs something over £1,000.00.

From the National Trust website -
"Owned by one family for almost 350 years, whose story takes in royal visits, family feuds and debt, Stowe is a breathtakingly beautiful creation of the 18th century. It's also one of the first and foremost of the great English landscape gardens. It reflects the work of two people in particular: Lord Cobham and his nephew, Earl Temple."
