Happy Fence Friday, All
Palladian Bridge, Stowe Landscape Gardens.
I don't know if I could say there is a "concrete fence" here that is part of the bridge. But, if not, there is a small bit of a proper fence by the folks walking towards the bridge :-))
Maybe view Large, please :-)
There is actually water that flows under the bridge so I will also add this to 'Sight & Sound'. Have used "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon & Garfunkel a couple of times so have chosen instead a cover version by Jadyn Rylee & Sina.
Also, added to Sight and Sound : Pictures & Music

SATURDAY SELF-CHALLENGE
22 SEPTEMBER 2018
"TAKE A PHOTO AND POST PROCESS IT TO ACHIEVE THE GOAL FOR YOUR SUBJECT"
Over many years I have tried 'painterly' effects with varying degrees of failure and occasional success :-) A long time back I was pleased with the results from using the 'Art History Brush' in Photoshop 6. But the more I used this process the worse I got!
A while back I came across the 'Dream Smoothing' filter in GIMP Photo software. I have been pleased with some of the results :-) I have previously uploaded a few photos where the effect was used but they were mostly using the default settings.
GIMP says -
"A relatively slow filter that uses anisotropic filtering to smooth an image. More iterations produces a softer image as does lower opacity values. Practical modes for merging are Alpha and Average. The results are resolution dependent".
Of course I knew this :-)))
This week I have spent a lot time trying different combinations of the settings. Already there appear to be endless combinations :-)
The Arty border came from a free giveaway of Borders in 'Digital Photo' magazine from a long time back.
In the PiP one I think I may have got a little bit carried away :-)

If I can find a tenuous link, any tenuous link, to use with a Gene Clark track I will :-)))
So, when Helen and I were in Stowe Landscape Gardens on 6 November I thought I would 'try so hard' not to take another photo of the Palladian Bridge and the Gothic Temple. But, temptation got the better of me and I can now link my photo to "Tried So Hard" written by Gene Clark. It features on the 1967 album "Gene Clark with the Gosdin Brothers". The lead guitar player on this track is the late, great Clarence White.

I would fully recommend the 2013 'Four Suns Productions' feature length documentary, 'The Byrd Who Flew Alone' exploring the life and work of Gene Clark. In my opinion it is absolutely the best ever music documentary.

Allegedly, today (1 November) was the hottest November day recorded in the UK after the temperature in Trawsgoed, near Aberystwyth, in Wales reached 22.3C.
I didn't go to Wales but the next best option was Stowe Landscape Gardens. Certainly didn't need an anorak and a muffler :-))

I used the original version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with a previous post to 'Sight and Sound'. So, with this shot of the Palladian Bridge @ Stowe Landscape Gardens I figured I would search for a different version. And, I found one by a group called 'Gregorian' :-)
All I know about them comes from Wikipedia; as follows -
"Gregorian is a German band headed by Frank Peterson that performs chant-inspired versions of modern pop and rock songs."

There's a bridge over the water
I can see it like a rainbow
If you love me I'll be waiting
Take me home to the other side
Here comes a slightly wayward link to get to the music I am using :-) The words say “There's a bridge over the water.............Take me home to the other side”.
So, this is the Palladian Bridge that goes over the Octagon Lake. If you follow the 'peeps' in red up the hill, go by the Gothic Temple, carry on to the Temple of Ancient Virtue and head through a clearing you will be taken Home i.e. to Stowe House the original Home of the Temple-Grenville family. I hope this is a good enough link :-)
Possibly the first thing that comes to mind when hearing the name Bekka Bramlett is that Bekka is the daughter of music duo Delaney & Bonnie. But, I have never understood why Bekka is not a major star in her own right!!

This is an oldish shot where I have made some very minor enhancements in Photoshop. I also thought some soft focus was a good idea :-)))
The Palladian Bridge, in the foreground, was completed in 1738 probably under the direction of James Gibbs.
The Gothic Temple in the distance was designed by James Gibbs in 1741 and completed about 1748. This is the only building in the Gardens built from ironstone.
