The Breathtaking Bleeding Heart

07 May 2012 1 265
Yesterday Steve and I went on an outing with our photo club here in southern Oregon, and we went to an EMU RANCH!! I took a zillion pictures of the amazing birds, but I also went crazy taking pictures around the immaculately tended gardens. One of my favorite flowers is a Bleeding Heart, and when I saw these, I just about did backflips all over the yard! When I got home, I looked through my pictures and when I saw this one, I was so happy that I had to process it immediately because it turned out so nicely! I feel so happy to have gotten the chance to take pictures of this lovely flower at its peak of beauty!! The Old-Fashioned Bleeding Heart is native to eastern Asia from Siberia to Japan and grows from late spring to early summer. Contact with this flower can sometimes cause skin irritation, so best not to touch! :) Interestingly, this plant was once classified in a different genus (Dicentra), and certainly looks similar to the Western Bleeding Heart that I have seen, but it's different enough that it was reclassified. If you would like to know more about Old-Fashioned Bleeding Hearts, Wiki has a page here: Wiki: Old-Fashioned Bleeding Heart (Lamprocapnos spectabilis) Thanks to all of you who have visited and have left comments and favorites! I try to go to all of your pages within a day or two and is a highlight for me to see your beautiful photography! :)

Tiny Jumping Spider: Mr. Fancy Face!

19 Sep 2012 286
I know I've been posting a lot of spider pictures lately, but it's not my fault! These cutie pies have been presenting themselves a lot in the past week or two! Isn't this little Jumping Spider just the cutest thing EVER?!! LOOK AT THAT FACE!!! Look at the FANCY HAIR!! The lovely blush on its...er...cheeks! I'm in love!!! :D All this cuteness in a 1/4" package, can you believe it?!! I simply love having a macro lens because I can't possibly see the amazing details on these itty bitty guys with my naked eyes! I take as many pictures as I can so I get a good look on my computer, and then I can share their cuteness with the rest of the world! :) ENJOY!! :D Work update: *yawn* I'm falling asleep as I write this, but I did want to say that I've been doing my best to visit your photostreams as I can...I won't have much free time for about two weeks though, so I'll be trying to stop by your wonderful photostreams whenever I have a free moment or two! Thanks so much for your patience and understanding!
