2 more pictures in notes above ! :) Today's surprise was waiting for me when I looked out our bedroom back door, which opens up onto our tiny upstairs deck. The eves were bristling with icicles and they were brilliant with the sun shining on them! I was so excited I ran in to tell Steve so he could see too. Both of us had a lot of fun taking pictures! James Grover Thurber (December 8, 1894 – November 2, 1961) was an American author, journalist, cartoonist, and celebrated wit. Thurber was best known for his cartoons and short stories, published mainly in The New Yorker magazine and collected in his numerous books. One of the most popular humorists of his time, Thurber celebrated the comic frustrations and eccentricities of ordinary people. Wikipedia: James Thurber

Sparkling Seedlings

1 more picture in a note above! :) This morning I went to check the seedlings and instead of 22, there are now 28 little seedlings stretching their arms to the sun! :D When I looked closely, I saw that the tiny leaves were covered with droplets from the rain and even though I shared a picture just yesterday, I just HAD to take pictures of the droplets with sun flares!

Rainbow Web

I took this picture with the intention of getting a sun flare to highlight this spiderweb. There happened to be a lot of color in the flare and I loved how adding a "color blast" filter turned the whole flare and web into a beautiful rainbow. This image was taken on the MeetUp hike around one edge of Howard Prairie Lake on August 7, 2011.

I was looking around for interesting shots and when I turned around, I saw Steve talking to one of the people in our photography club. Two very cool people, sharing a moment together. :) This image was taken on Saturday, November 12, 2100.

Pumpkin's Bright Eye

[best appreciated at full size against black] Steve and I are part of a photography group here in southern Oregon, and there is a photo theme for each monthly meeting. The photo presentation is always fun because everyone comes up with so many different ideas! This month's theme was "Pet Portraits", and this is one of the pictures I took! Pumpkin is our darling Caique parrot, a bird native to the Amazon Basin in Brazil. We got her when she was just 6 months old and she's now 10 years old, and the love of my life (along with Steve of course!). This picture was taken in our kitchen with the sun shining through the window and through one of her beautiful eyes. I have another picture like this , taken with my SX30, but I thought it would be fun to take another one with my 5D Mark II! Isn't she amazing?! She's my best little friend in the whole world!! :) This image was taken in April, 2012.

Fall Colors with Sun Flare

I took another picture of the Japanese maple tree I saw in Jacksonville last week and I liked the way the sun flare looked! :) Internet service in southern Oregon was down all day long! I've been too busy to worry about it, but it's interesting how dependent we become on having this luxury! Thanks for all of your visits, I had hoped to visit some photostreams this morning but it will have to wait until tomorrow I'm afraid, since we just got our internet back just when it's time to go to bed!! *tantrum* I did have time to visit some pages last night and had a very nice time, but didn't get to everyone's by the time I needed to log off. *sigh*....work is very nice but I miss all of your lovely photos!
