Blistered Black Oak Leaf

Have you ever wondered what happens to a green leaf that is exposed to extreme heat but isn't burned? You are looking at a leaf that had been green. Fire approached but only the extreme heat hit these leaves, causing the water within to boil and create the blistering of the surface. Although this leaf did not burn, it turned black and was dry as a bone. These leaves look to me as if they are cast from bronze.

Fading Glory, Still Beautiful

1 picture above in the notes! :) This morning I took a look at the red poppy that was so lovely yesterday morning, and yet had shriveled up by day's end in the awful heat. I wanted to share this image with you because, even though this flower is no longer fresh and brilliant, it is still beautiful to behold! We must always remember that a flower's beauty continues from bud through seed, and every stage can be stunning if the light is just right! :)
