Pictures for Pam, Day 158: Pink-Tipped Daisy

(+1 inset) (looks extra special enlarged)
Once again I'm very late with my picture and post! Steve and I were out on many errands today and didn't get home until after 6 so I'm going to have to make this short…
While we drove around, we got to enjoy a typical spring day in southern Oregon. The weather that ranged from overcast to rainy to a bright sunny day with blue skies filled with fluffy clouds. It's so green and lovely now with flowers popping up everywhere. Such a delight.
I got a couple of pictures processed from our adventure to Jacksonville and thought they would be perfect for tonight's post.
Jacksonville has a large public garden that I visited, and though it was pretty sparse in terms of flowers, they had an enormous lawn that was dotted with the prettiest daisies I'd ever seen! I had a wonderful time taking pictures and the main image turned out just as I'd hoped! I rarely see daisies adorned with pink-tipped petals but there were lots of them everywhere in the grass so I went crazy with pictures! As I wandered around I found a little wasp on one of them and I managed to get a good picture of it too! (I'm also sharing a panorama showing the sort of lovely day it was today!)
(I also got lots of flowering tree blossoms while I was there, and a bunch of others too, I hope I'll get to post them at some point!)
Pam, I looked for a picture of a daisy...noop! I looked for another wasp picture other than the one I'd already featured...only hive pictures and they are too scary and creepy! So I did a search for "bee" and pounced on this lovely image of a bee on a moonflower at dusk . Perfect! Your main image is fantastic, as were the insets you also included. It's so nice when we provide a wonderful source of nectar for them...when I had my poppy garden it was the most popular place for a mile around I think...I could hear the buzz of bees from a long distance and they were all over the flowers and yet, so docile that I could move among them in complete harmony. Wonderful memories, thank you for that! Well, here's another wish that your day went well! More *hugs* for you!

Alien Bud

Another pair of pictures taken in Jacksonville...there was no end to the variety of flowers and plants there, it was such fun!
As a photographer, we are always looking for that special angle to showcase our subject. I love taking pictures of buds straight on because they look so strange and interesting! This one looks like an alien space pod preparing to open up! However, it also looked really cool from the side!

Another flower I found in Jacksonville a month ago! This flower is in the Aster family, which is one of the largest groups of plants in the world! In fact these flowers include almost 10% of all flowering plants on Earth! WOW!!

French Marigold (Explore #44)

Here's another picture taken at Jacsksonville a few weeks back. This one sat in a flower box under a shop window!
I think this is a French Marigold. There are literally hundreds of species of these beautiful flowers and they can vary drastically in appearance. Marigolds are wonderful for attracting butterflies to your garden. They are also used in companion planting with a variety of vegetables. Perfumes are made with its scent and there are medicinal uses as well!
If you would like to know more about this flower, Wiki has a page here: Wiki: French Marigold
Thank you for your comments, favorites, friendship and PATIENCE while I'm so busy with my work! I can't comment very much at this time but I should have more time in a bit less than a week!

Pair of Pansies

Another flower picture from our afternoon in Jacksonville! These dainty blossoms are so lovely--it was great to get the chance to take a picture of them. I did have some troublesome issues, one being deep shade and the other being a healthy breeze, so I set my ISO pretty high for most of my shots. That's one thing I love about the Canon 5D Mark II...the ISO goes up to 6400 and noise reduction filters like Topaz DeNoise really get rid of it!

The flowers in Jacksonville had insects buzzing and flitting all over them, including flies, bees and butterflies. Here is a black & white bee on a purple flower...I think it's a Cosmos but I'm not positive! :)
Glowing Cosmos: Oh the Light!! (Explore #52)
19 Oct 2012 |

It really is true what professionals say when discussing the art of taking pictures: we are capturing light as it interacts with subjects. I am always amazed at the beauty of light passing through flora, and I found this when Steve and I were in Jacksonville the other week. :)
By the way, I've uploaded two other pictures today and I hope you'll visit them too!
Thanks to all of you who have visited and have left comments and favorites! I try to go to all of your pages within a day or two and is a highlight for me to see your beautiful photography! :)

There were many beautiful flowers were in bloom during our visit to Jacksonville a few weeks ago that Steve had to drag me away kicking and screaming! Here are a pair of images showing a species of Mallow, though if I'm incorrect, I'd love the right name! :)

I saw these in Jacksonville, Oregon, some time back when Steve and I decided to go on a photowalk there. Although we didn't take much in the way of manmade subjects, I went crazy with the huge number of flowers and insects!

This is yet another beautiful flower I found on our trip to Jacksonville, Oregon, some months ago. This was on an enormous bush, it seemed like a small tree, and was simply covered with these blossoms! I had quite a challenge getting just one picture because it was windy and the branches were waving back and forth. This one turned out the best I think, I hope you like it!
Thanks to all of you who have visited and have left comments and favorites! I try to go to all of your pages within a day or two (when I'm not buried in work) and is a highlight for me to see your beautiful photography! :)
