I have a very dear friend over on Flickr who goes by the name "Red Stilletto" , and she is the one who first called me a Pod Sister. Since she didn't have any problems when Flickr changed in May, and she didn't mind the new look, she didn't have any reason to leave, so Lisa and I stay in contact via Facebook. The other day she posted a picture of a cookie called a "Wagon Wheel" and it looked so delicious that I kidded that she simply must send me some if she wanted to live another day, and you know what? SHE DID!!! All the way from Australia, no less!! She sent bunches of them to me and my husband, as well as another kind of cookie called a "Tim Tam" in two different flavors! YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!!! I have always been a Cookie Monster at heart, and the best way to steal my soul is by giving me COOKIES! Therefore, Lisa now owns me! :D THANK YOU SO MUCH, LISA!!! WE LOVE THE COOKIES!!! YOU'RE THE BESTEST!!! *BIG HUGS AND SMOOCHES* :)
By the way, Lisa also included a recipe for Wagon Wheels, which you can see on her Royal Auto cooking blog, which also has more pictures! ENJOY!! :D Wagon Wheels Recipe on RAdish

Cookie Monster is a Muppet on the children's television show Sesame Street. He is best known for his voracious appetite and his famous eating phrases: "Me want cookie!", "Me eat cookie!", and "Om nom nom nom" (said through a mouth full of food). He often eats anything and everything, including danishes, donuts, lettuce, apples, bananas, as well as normally inedible objects. However, as his name suggests, his preferred food is cookies. Chocolate chip cookies are his favorite kind; oatmeal cookies are his second favorite. In a song in 2004, Cookie Monster revealed that, before he ate his first cookie, he believes his name was Sid. Showing awareness of healthy eating habits for children, since 2006 he has said that cookies are "a sometime snack" and that he also likes fruits and eggplant. Wikipedia: Cookie Monster

Today's heart-shaped seed pod is dedicated to a dear friend of mine, Pam J . She and I are both excited about growing plants from seeds, and because we live in places where it is very hot and dry during the summer, we are sharing seeds with each other in the hopes that we'll have good luck this way! It's been wonderful getting to know her, and a joy to visit her photo stream too. We even have similar luck with butterflies, lol! Take a look at her lovely Grey Hairstreak ! I hope that you'll take a peek at her pictures too. Pam is so nice and has a heart of gold! I am so happy that we met! :)
Khalil Gibran (January 6, 1883 – April 10, 1931) was a Lebanese artist, poet, and writer. He is chiefly known in the English-speaking world for his 1923 book The Prophet, an early example of inspirational fiction including a series of philosophical essays written in poetic English prose. The book sold well despite a cool critical reception, gaining popularity in the 1930s and again especially in the 1960s counterculture. Gibran is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu. Wikipedia: Khalil Gibran

I've been doing a lot of thinking about gratitude lately. I have so much to be thankful for, and today I want to say THANK YOU , delivered with a warm hug to each and every one of you. I want you all to know how much it means to me that you visit and leave comments and favorites. But most of all, I want you to know how thankful I am for your friendship, and for the camaraderie we share here at ipernity. You have all made me feel welcome here in my new home. I have made so many new and wonderful friends. I am so grateful for those of you who have joined me here from Flickr, and for those of you who have made a special effort to give ipernity another try, and have found that you just needed to put in a bit more effort to discover how special ipernity really is.
Thank you all for making me feel that I have some talent as a photographer and writer, and thank you for sharing your feelings with me. I am grateful for the opportunity to see the world through your eyes, and for the virtual adventures I go on around the world through your wonderful photography. Because of every one of you, I am a better photographer, and a better person too. I learn so much from what I read about your pictures and from the stories and articles that you write. The time I spend visiting your photo streams and reading the comments that you leave for me fill me with so many emotions--joy, happiness, laughter (and often howling cackles of mirth), fascination, wonder, and sometimes sorrow and regret. It's all important though, and I am very thankful that I am allowed to know you a little bit more every day.
So...thank you everyone!! I am so happy here and I am so grateful to be surrounded by such a fabulous community and ever-growing group of friends. You mean the world to me. *big hugs to all of you*

Tiki Huts and New Friends [Explore]

On a day between showers, I went to visit the top of our ridge because I felt the magic in the air coming from there...I might just find some mushroom fairies! When I got to the top, I paused to listen as I looked around, and heard the tiny tinkle of laughter. Turning to see, I found these two mushrooms, which looked like little tiki huts! Smiling warmly at them, they approached as near as they dared, and one of them presented me with a strand of grass as a gesture of goodwill and friendship. As I took the grass and glowed with happiness, I heard him say,
"The best mirror is a friend’s eye." ~ Unknown
With that, they turned and disappeared back into the trees. I stood and relished the feeling of acceptance I got from these secretive people as I stared at the tiny strand of grass in the palm of my hand. How lucky I am! :)

Last February, Steve and I went on a photo walk along the Rogue River and I found a mossy old log. Creeping over to it and looking close, I found this pair of beautiful mushrooms glowing in the afternoon sun. They made me smile and think about friendship.

Today is a good example of why a 365 Project can be very hard! Specifically, TIME CRUNCH! It's 11:45pm right now and I'm running as fast as I can to put this picture up before I turn into a pumpkin! :D
Steve and I were invited to spend the afternoon at a new friend's home and have dinner with Elizabeth and her charming husband, Richard, and six others (Hi Robin & Michael! :D). It was such an amazing day! In fact, I was asked to take pictures of some of Elizabeth's STAGGERING collection of daffodils...there were so many kinds it was mind-boggling! Hundreds of pictures later, and after an AMAZING dinner and fantastic conversation, Steve and I came home and I decended on my computer to copy over the 700+ images I took *GASP* and quickly look through just a few before selecting this image for my 365! These are some of the daffodils that were in a vase and I really like how they show so many kinds all in one, beautiful group.

I took the dogs out for a walk around the property before dinner and brought along my camera. When I saw this incredible glowing wild pea pod, I forgot everything else and lost myself in its radiating beauty. As I took pictures, I smiled warmly because this peapod represents the strong friendships I have with so many of my dearly loved "pod sisters/pod brothers" here on ipernity. With each of you, I have formed a common bond, each of us seeing eye to eye on so many facets of our photography, the way we think, how we feel, the closeness we feel to one another. To me, we are all connected through this tapestry of images and feelings. I love you all, and I am overjoyed whenever I find another "pea" to add to my "pod"! :D *big hugs and much love to my pod siblings*
