This nail is embedded in the decaying wood of an old tree house built many years ago. It has since fallen down, tree and all, but I love all the interesting textures that abound here.

[best appreciated at full size against black] That's what I thought when I first spotted this mushroom, making its way out of the side of a log. I love its flat head and wonderful, wrinkly texture! I am afraid that it wouldn't make much of a nail though...it's bent and needs to go back to the factory! :D This image was taken in February, 2012.
