330/366: Canada Goose on Harry & David Building

28 Nov 2016 9 6 679
There are ponds at the Harry & David garden, and they attract lots of waterfowl. We were so amused to find this goose on top of one of the buildings, peering down at the parking lot below. Such an odd sight!

Flock of Geese

We are blessed to have a huge variety of birds where we live, and here, near the Applegate River, there are many Canadian Geese. As Steve and I were taking pictures of the beautiful old barn with the sunset, we heard the honking of a flock of geese flying overhead. I looked up and got this picture and a few more! YAY!! This photo was taken on October 21, 2011.

Quick! Click the Gooseys!

A bunch of the geese decided to take off, but instead of trying to get a picture of the geese, I thought it would be more fun getting a picture of Laura while she tried to photograph them! As it worked out, I got a picture of the geese too, yay! :) This image was taken during my trip to San Francisco during September 12-15, 2011.

Canada Geese Foraging in the Grass

Imagine our delight when Laura and I discovered a substantial flock of Canada Geese while we walked through Golden Gate Park. I will never get tired of these intensely beautiful birds and it was such a treat to get so close to them! This image was taken during my trip to San Francisco during September 12-15, 2011.

Low Flying Aircraft

I was taking a look for signs of tadpoles at our pond when I heard the "Honk-Honk" of approaching geese. It's so nice of them to announce their arrival so I can prepare myself to take pictures! I think waterfowl are the Photographer Training Wheel Birds of Flight! :D These birds flew DIRECTLY overhead and then they turned in a circle to fly over my head again, and then AGAIN! I couldn't believe it!! I walked away from the pond in case they meant to land, but after the third pass they circled back the way they came. This is closest I've gotten to a flying bird before with my camera, and I could have almost filled the frame with one of these beauties!! So fantastic!! *high five to all of my amazing bird photographer buddies*
