Pictures for Pam, Day 100: Romance (Nice France #2…

(+1 inset!) (full size is recommended!) :) WOW!! Can you believe I've been working on this project for 100 days?!! It's been wonderful and I look forward to the next 100! YAY PAM!! :) With the dreary, muddy, sloppy, and rainy weather, it's hard not to want spring to arrive sooner. I'm really happy that we've been getting all of this rain, but at the same time I'm ready for warm, sunny days! That being said, I cannot resist posting this picture today! These flowers were growing in a planter outside our Air B & B apartment in Nice, France. It was beautiful, sunny, and warm almost every day of our trip and waking up in Nice with the sun shining in the windows was such a treat. We'd arrived at the apartment the previous evening so I couldn't wait to grab my camera and take pictures of where we stayed. I stepped out onto the tiny landing that lead to the stairs down to the enclosed courtyard and stopped in my tracks. A planter overflowing with beautiful little pink flowers was positively glowing in the sunshine and I had to stop and stare. I took a bunch of photos before heading down to the courtyard to take a picture of our abode. I'm including an inset of the tiny landing and front of our apartment. You can see the flowers in one of the planters! Above us lived a Russian couple who were quiet but we could hear them walking around above us with creaky floors to tell us where they were. I really enjoyed the little private courtyard and took many pictures before we left, so I'll share some of those when I get to them! :) Note: if you would like to read my first France post, it's here: www.ipernity.com/doc/290645/48132924 If you would like to read my third post, it's here: www.ipernity.com/doc/290645/48183152 Pam, since it's been raining all day, I looked in your photo stream for rain-related images. I found an outstanding picture of a droplet on pine needles that I really loved!! By the way, I loved reading about where you've travelled, thank you so much for sharing! I have not been to Spain or Hong Kong but those are both on our Bucket List so we'll have to see if we get there at some point! *Sending HUGGGGGGS from southern Oregon* :D Explored on 2/17/19, highest placement, #1.

343/366: Viburnum--Lovely White Blossoms with Inne…

Here are some flowers that I especially loved. They grew on a large, sprawling bushy tree at the Harry & David public garden. From afar, this huge bush appeared to have white, unimpressive flowers on it. From my experience, what seems boring from a distance will turn out to be fantastic up close, and I made a bee-line to the closest cluster. I was not disappointed, as you can see. I love the appearance of two very different looking blossoms and the rich green and texture of the leaves behind.

Singled Out

Back in March, I took my camera to work for a few minutes of blossom-hunting. Downtown Medford in Spring is a lovely sight to behold, with streets lined with blooming trees in pink and white, what a breathtaking show! I only had a few minutes to spare, but wandered around a block completely transfixed by all of the wonderful photo-ops in front of me. I was hoping to capture the beauty of the flowering trees, and this picture turned out especially well! Explored on May 18, 2015. Highest placement, #3.

Costco Parking Lot Flowers

These are some flowers I found the other day when Steve and I left Costco. I had only a few minutes to spend to find my Picture of the Day, and this was the first subject I photographed! :) I think they are quite pretty, but not as unique as the red leaves I ended up choosing that day! :)

1 more picture in a note above! :) This morning I went outside and was again surprised by beautiful poppies which continue to bloom in my garden. I planted them in April or May and the first blossoms opened in July. Here it is at the end of September and they are still blooming!! I can hardly believe it! Last year the deer mowed down all of my wildflowers so I didn't get a chance to see how long various flowers might bloom, but this year our motion-detecting sprayer has kept them away--well, except for a couple of disasters when I forgot to turn it on after watering! (Please don't ask me what's doing on with my seedlings...*cries piteously*...I don't want to talk about it!! :D) Even though I've posted plenty of poppy pictures, it's been a while, and these blossoms in blushed-white, red-tinged salmon, and pink are a lovely present to me and perfect for my Picture of the Day! :) Emanuel James "Jim" Rohn (September 17, 1930 – December 5, 2009) was an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker. One of the plants that I brought home a couple of weeks ago was a Cosmos with pink flowers, and it's in full bloom now! These flowers have such thin petals that they positively glow in the morning light. So pretty, aren't they?! Albert Einstein (14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, effecting a revolution in physics. For this achievement, Einstein is often regarded as the father of modern physics and the most influential physicist of the 20th century. While best known for his mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2 (which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation"), he received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect". The latter was pivotal in establishing quantum theory. Wikipedia: Albert Einstein

7 more pictures in notes above! ENJOY! :) I've been enjoying the beautiful flowers I bought a week ago, and the Zinnias are blooming in many colors! A few days ago I shared images of a hot pink one, and today it was time to show off the gorgeous golden yellow one! The first rays of sun look so pretty on the petals, soft and warm! John Muir (21 April 1838 – 24 December 1914) was a Scottish-born American naturalist, author, and early advocate of preservation of wilderness in the United States. His letters, essays, and books telling of his adventures in nature, especially in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, have been read by millions. His activism helped to preserve the Yosemite Valley, Sequoia National Park and other wilderness areas. The Sierra Club, which he founded, is now one of the most important conservation organizations in the United States. One of the most well-known hiking trails in the U.S., the 211-mile (340 km) John Muir Trail, was named in his honor. Other such places include Muir Woods National Monument, Muir Beach, John Muir College, Mount Muir, Camp Muir and Muir Glacier. John Muir Explored on August 9, 2013. Highest placement, page 3 (#61).

4 more pictures in notes above! The smoke from the fires here in southern Oregon was so thick this morning that the sun could only cast a dim orange light on everything. In fact, you can see the smoke from SPACE! Though it was positively caustic to be outside, I simply could not resist taking pictures of the gorgeous tarweed blossoms that are in full bloom right now and simply take my breath away with their beauty. Frank Lloyd Wright (born Frank Lincoln Wright, June 8, 1867 – April 9, 1959) was an American architect, interior designer, writer and educator, who designed more than 1,000 structures and completed 532 works. Wright believed in designing structures which were in harmony with humanity and its environment, a philosophy he called organic architecture. This philosophy was best exemplified by his design for Fallingwater (1935), which has been called "the best all-time work of American architecture". Wright was a leader of the Prairie School movement of architecture and developed the concept of the Usonian home, his unique vision for urban planning in the United States.
