Tasty Sprouts

23 Jan 2012 274
[best appreciated at full size against black] One of the most special things about eating at a Japanese restaurant is the presentation of the food. Everything served has something special to appreciate about it. On this sushi roll are beautiful green sprouts, which, by the way, taste as wonderful as they look! Wakame (Seaweed) Salad

22 Jan 2012 263
[best appreciated at full size against black] I have my husband to thank for introducing me to sushi in a way that didn't have me running for my life. Raw fish? SEAWEED? REALLY?? People EAT that? And...they...LIKE IT? SERIOUSLY? Yes! Seriously!! Wakame salad was something I was very hesitant to try because it looks slimy and couldn't believe it would be good. But it's amazing...crunchy, tasty flavors of zesty rice vinegar with oil, sesame seeds and many lovely seasonings, all combining together into a mouthful of deliciousness that is incredible! Once I tried it, wakame salad became an instant favorite! YUM!!! I have two other images uploaded today that I hope you'll take a look at! Thanks to all of you who have visited and have left comments and favorites! I try to go to all of your pages within a day or two and is a highlight for me to see your beautiful photography! :) This image was taken in November, 2011.

Sushi Roll with Reverse Bokeh

25 Jan 2012 182
[best appreciated at full size against black] I thought it would be fun to take a shot of a sushi roll where the foreground is soft and the midground is sharp, and this sushi roll appears to be hiding behind the sushi in front in fear. It has a good reason to be afraid...it had very little time left in this world! :D :D :D This image was taken in November, 2011.

Lemon in a Glass of Ice Water

[best appreciated at full size against black] Macro lenses are amazing things, aren't they? You can focus on something that, at a normal view, looks like nothing at all, but with a macro lens can suddenly become fascinating! Here we have a slice of lemon floating on my glass of icewater! I hope you like it! This image was taken in November, 2011.

Yummy, Yummy Sushi

[best appreciated at full size against black] When Steve and I go out for sushi, our "usual" order includes the following: seaweed salad (picture soon!), edamame or miso soup, spicy scallop handroll, hamachi sashimi, and a couple of specialty rolls. Here is another roll that we shared, and it was just as delectable as it looked, filled with spicy scallops and topped with a special type of tuna with a lovely sauce drizzled over it. Mmmmmmm....

Abtract: Ice Against Side of Plastic Cup

[best appreciated at full size against black] Even before I knew what this word meant, I've appreciated and marvelled over abstracts. Macro images are wonderful for capturing very interesting abstracts, and if you've been visiting my stream for a while, you'll know that I absolutely love getting so close to a subject that one must try very hard sometimes to figure out what it is that I'm taking a picture of. The other day I showed an image of lemon floating on top of a glass of ice water. Here is the side of the glass with ice pressed against the side of the cup! This image was taken in November, 2011.

Edamame

20 Jan 2012 321
[best appreciated at full size against black] One of the most popular appetizers at a sushi restaurant is called edemame, which is the Japanese word for soybean! These tasty treats are boiled in salted water and then served with the shell, either hot or cold depending on the restaurant. Use your fingers to pop the tasty soybean out of the shell and into your mouth, but aim carefully! I have accidentally popped beans across the table, through the air and onto the floor before! :D :D :D This image was taken in November, 2011.
