Clayfolk Show! This is Debra Nelson's Candle Lamp…

05 Dec 2011 266
This is Day 10 of 14 of my Clayfolk Art Show exhibit! I started with Lorene Senesac, Rhonda Hampton, Steve Kirkland, Bruce Finch, Vera Rogers, Jan Lacy, Cheryl Kempner, CJ June, and Shirley Usher. Today's featured artists are Debra and Larry Nelson! These two both work with clay, but their styles are very different, and both are exceptional at what they do. For me, Debra's most prominent show-stopper pieces were her Japanese-inspired candle and electric lamps, all with pretty cut-outs in bamboo and leaf shapes. The intensely beautiful colors and textures used with her pieces force one to stop and gaze for long moments to take in all of the lovely details. She also creates jaw-dropping vases with stunning, rich colors that have a wonderful depth to them. I also loved her detailed, heavily textured wall sconces in natural tones. Larry creates outstanding, unique tea sets, tea pots and mugs which must be seen to be believed. They look as if he raided the pipe section in a hardware store and spent countless hours assembling them into usuable sculpture...but...every one of his pieces is made of clay! The intricate level of detail Larry puts into his work even includes pipe threads inside exposed holes! AMAZING!! Unfortunately, I only got one picture of Larry's work, but if you visit the Nelson's website, there are many more pictures to see there. Don't miss them! Please forgive the flood...I have 13 images of the Nelson's artwork here! I hope you take the time to look at every one, as they are outstanding and deserve to be appreciated!
