[best appreciated at full size against black] Nope! This is a chunk of rock that fell off of a huge shelf of granite and I found it exactly as you see here, nestled on a bed of moss. Encrusted on this bit of rock is a kind of lichen, called "Crustose Soil Lichen" and I just love its black and white coloring and cool texture. I thought this little scene would be fun to share with all of you here on Flickr! I hope you like it! :) This image was taken in February, 2012.
