Steve and I hope that you have a wonderful holiday! Whether or not you live in the United States, this is a great day to celebrate our national bird, the TURKEY!
We are very lucky to live in a place that wild turkeys call their home. Although we don't see them every day, turkeys are often wandering around in our meadows and sometimes enjoy eating seeds around our bird feeders. We love these funny looking creatures and seeing them always puts a smile on our faces.

Am I Close Enough?

Steve and I had a lot of fun walking through the livestock barns at the Jackson County Fair a couple of weeks ago. We found that the goats were very friendly and curious and had us constantly laughing at their antics! This silly Alpine goat wasn't sure how close it should be for a nice close-up, so when Steve asked for a nice pose, she happily came up and put her nose on the lens of his camera! :D
Alpine goats are a dairy breed which was first bred in French Alps. Because they produce a large amount of milk, they are often found at commercial dairy farms. They are also popular because they thrive in many types of climates, maintaining good health and production.
If you would like to know more about these goats, the Alpines International Club has a very nice website. Wiki also has a nice page here: Wiki: Alpine Goat

I was looking around for interesting shots and when I turned around, I saw Steve talking to one of the people in our photography club. Two very cool people, sharing a moment together. :)

We live about 20 miles from Medford, Oregon, and across the street from their famous Ginger Rogers-Craterian Theater is the Vogal Plaza which features this wonderful bronze piece! Called simply, "Chess Player," it was sculpted by Pete Helzer in 2002.
Do you like to play chess? If so, do you know about correspondence chess? It's a way to play chess online with friends without having to sit for hours while you both take turns playing and waiting. Instead, you decide how long each turn can take--such as 3 days--and when the other player makes a move, you're notified by email or a notification that it's your turn again! Suddenly, a game that I refused to play because of the waiting time sink has now become a favorite pastime! :D
If you would like to play a game of chess with me, sign up for a free account at Chess .com and challenge me to a duel! My nickname is also sfhipchick there. By the way, I'm not very good, but I'm learning! I've played about 35 games now and have won about half of them...my win/loss ratio has improved a LOT! :)
