First of all, thank you EVERYONE for all of your wonderful comments!! You don't know how wonderful it feels to read the nice things you have to say! :) Also, I have to giggle because I knew you guys would be teasing me about the temperature and I absolutely love it! I don't know how those of you who've mentioned can LIVE in sub-zero climates, HOLY COW!! You're all crazy! :D *big hugs* Also, I wanted to say that I'm in the middle of a project right now and haven't been able to comment, which is making me nuts, but I'm hoping to get some time soon so I can come and visit each of you. :)
As for me, I decided to take pictures inside today!! It was actually warm and balmy at 17 to 25 degrees today, but I saw my pink double-walled water cup on the counter with tiny bubbles sticking to the sides and thought, PICTURE OF THE DAY!! I had a great time taking pictures...sometimes there's nothing more enjoyable than a good abstract! After playing with the plastic cup, I saw a glass vase nearby with tiny bubbles too, and had more fun with that one. (Later I did go out and I got a bunch of very cool frost pictures but I didn't want to process them today. Something for another day! :)

Silver Bubbles on Glass Vase

When I saw this, I really wanted to make it my picture of the day, but Steve felt the pink picture was much more flashy, so I went with that one. However, I simply LOVE the way these bubbles appear to be moving through the water. To explain what you're looking at, the weird stuff on the left is plastic wrap which we have to cover the vase of water (it's extra water if the pipes freeze). You can see lots of other bubbles here and there, but none of them are floating in the water, they are sticking on the side of the vase. I love seeing these kinds of images, so I hope you like this one! :)

Here is another picture of the bubbles sticking to the inside of our water-filled vase at another angle. Off in the distance you can see just a bit of the plastic, and the flash is reflecting on it to make that cool rainbow triangle! :D To me, this looks like bubbles marching off to their Triangle Leader! :D

3 more pictures in notes above!
Last night I had a hard time sleeping and spent hours trying unsuccessfully to get my rest. This morning I felt horrible and had a cough developing. As I went downstairs, I thought that my remedy could also be my Picture of the Day! So I grabbed my camera and went into the kitchen, grabbed an Airborne tablet, plopped it into a pretty glass full of water and took pictures as it fizzed and bubbled away into a tasty, citrus-flavored drink. After I got my pictures, I downed the glassful and immediately started to feel better.
I'm the first person to be suspicious of something that sounds too good to be true. I always thought homeopathic medicine was a joke and a waste of money--snake oil, as it were. But a friend recommended I try it the next time I felt a cold coming on, so I did. Darn if it didn't work! I couldn't believe it!! How can non-traditional medicine actually work?! But lo and behold, it does. My husband and I use both Airborne and Zicam (also homeopathic) for colds and they are amazing. The extra vitamins in Airborne also give an extra boost and make me feel good right away. When we feel flu coming on, we take Oscillococcinum, and it's like magic! Since we found out about these remedies, we are very rarely sick. Although there is a strong debate about homeopathy for treatment in sickness, I would have to say that in the case of cold and flu, homeopathy does work! :)

Frothy Bubbles From Rainwater Runoff

We are extremely fortunate to live on 26 acres, which include forests, meadows, hills, valleys and a ridgeline. One very special area a valley below our house with huge rocky outcroppings. When it rains, the water runs down the rocks and forms little streams. While investigating the area for mushrooms and droplets, I saw a place where the water was dripping down into a little pool and forming frothy bubbles!

Molten Bubbles in our Stream

We have a seasonal pond that starts to fill in late Fall and dries up in late Spring/early Summer. It's fed by one of our two seasonal streams, which can grow to the size of a small creek during heavy storms. On this day, I wondered what sort of image I would get if I took a macro shot where water flowing over a rock was producing frothy bubbles. I think the result is quite interesting, with odd little pink specks and an almost oily appearance around the molten-like bubbles. I hope you like it!

Tiny Bubbles

Here's the perfect music for this picture! www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlCiDEXuxxA
At the top of the Upper and Lower Table Rocks, there are seasonal marshy areas called vernal pools. They are the home to many plants and animals, including the very rare fairy shrimp and a flower found only on the Table Rocks, Dwarf Wooly Meadowfoam. (I hope to take pictures of both as the season progresses!).
I didn't think I'd find any frogs, though they were making an incredible racket, but I thought I might see a pollywog or two. Nope. What I DID find were zillions of little black beetles zooming around in the water! I took some pictures, all the while figuring they wouldn't be interesting enough to post, but when I got home and looked at my images I found... TINY BUBBLES!! After looking through my pictures, I realized that making a collage with the bubbles would be much more fun than showing off the water scavenger beetles, which you can also see in three of the pictures here. I hope you like them! :D
