Tide Pool Beauty at Harris Beach, a Finale (+5 in…

(+5 insets) (very nice at full size!) (Please scroll down to "Today's Image" for photo info) Moving on From Harris Beach Steve and I spent a full two weeks here at Harris Beach State Park and while we were here, I got an endless variety of pictures, most of which I simply don't have time to post. I hope that at some point I can dip into this well of beautiful images to share some more but for now, it's time for me to step forward to our next stop! If you can believe it, these past 13 posts (since 11/01), brimming with insets and stories, are from exactly ONE of our campground stops. We were out for an astonishing six MONTHS and visited 20 campgrounds in that time! Every spot was like this in the number of adventures and never-ending photo opportunities. It really is completely staggering to think about. Grateful? OH MY YES. I count my lucky stars every time I think about our good fortune! And in the middle of a pandemic, no less. We are incredibly blessed and I am so glad that I can show you all some of the things I saw and experienced. Today is my last post from Harris Beach for now, but don't worry! This jaw-dropping place was also the very last stop for us before we came home in the middle of October…and once again, I filled folders with a totally different variety of incredible sights on that short, yet bountiful, five days. Today's Picture Another stunning look at a natural masterpiece, when I saw this I had to stop and just stare. It was captured at the upper edge of the tide pool area and shows the sculpted rocks with colorful algae adhered here and there. The contrast of light and shadow, shine and darkness, straight and round lines, dry and wet…really took my breath away. I tried many angles and different depths of field to capture the view and this was my favorite. Truly, a single picture cannot convey what I saw, but you will get the main idea: AWESOME! :) Today's Insets One of the fun things that happens on Harris Beach is the non-stop building of driftwood forts! There is a huge collection of logs and branches that wash up on the shore, and they collect at the tops of the beaches. People--especially kids, but adults play too!--will create a variety of lean-tos and elaborate log houses, some complete with driftwood roofs. Most will wash away during high-tide, but some stay to be admired or worked on. One picture shows a driftwood fort, another picture shows a pretty group of colorful logs. I also have another picture which shows part of the tidepool area and gives an idea of the huge place I got to explore. If you consider the investigation through a macro lens, what you see is the equivalent of countless miles to discover! Finally, a pair of images to show some more tide pool life: a still-life of black turban shells with sucked-in anemones, and a rocky crevice where a group of anemones waits for the waves to return so they might extend their tentacles again for a passing feast. Thank You So Much Wow, I am so glad that my last post was such fun for everyone. I sometimes wonder if I bore you all to death with my reports. I try to make it easy for people just passing by to look at the pictures and understand what's going on with my shorter photo descriptions. I get it! We don't all have time to read War & Peace! :D However, it's extremely gratifying and joyful to see that some of you do have the time and better still, you really like what I have to say! It's the very best feeling to me, bringing happiness when I can! So THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. You folks--all of you--make my life so much happier and fulfilled! Hope your week is going well--let's all be extra careful these days…it's getting really scary again!! Explored on 11/30/21; highest placement #2.

Pictures for Pam, Day 196: Bikes at Bullard's Bay…

25 May 2019 26 16 743
(+2 insets!) EEK EEK! It's another late post! :D Not my fault! STUFF HAPPENED! :D Can't type much tonight! Today was another driving day! We left our wonderful site at Devil's Lake and drove several hours back down the coast to the Bullard's Beach State Park Campground for one night's stay as we begin to make our way back towards home. We got into camp at about 4:30 and fast forward, we got our bikes out and took a ride around the campground and then out to the beach where we laughed our heads off trying to ride our bikes on the wet sand! FAIL! So funny! It Doesn't Work! You must have really fat tires, which we don't have, heh! Then we road over a short distance to the bay and oh my it was so beautiful! My main picture shows our bikes on the dock with a beautiful local bridge behind! Insets are a couple of views from another spot in two directions. SO LOVELY! Our bike ride was soooooo much fun! We will definitely be back to this pretty place! Pam, I can't write now but you are in my thoughts as well as in Steve's! *BIG HUGS* Explored on 5/25/19; highest placement, #11.

This is another picture I took at one of the Medford Cruise week's "Show 'n' Shine" exhibitions. So many awesome cars, at some point my eyes start spinning around in my head from so many amazing vehicles! This year's Medford Cruise is coming up and I can't wait! :D (who's that in the reflection?! :D)

My husband works as a product photographer at a company that sells zillions of kinds of beads. Just before my birthday a couple of years ago, he brought home an assortment of colorful beauties as a treat. I loved them, and enjoyed taking pictures of them to share. If you roll your mouse over the upper left corner, you can see the picture I chose for my Alphabet Project! :)

129/366: Gecko on the Glass

11 May 2016 26 14 617
In 2012, I went to visit my dad in San Francisco and while I was there, I went to the Academy of Sciences with my trusty Canon SX30 super zoom camera. I had a wonderful time checking out the totally rebuilt museum. Their reptile area was wonderful too, and this is where I found a huge tank with dozens of stunning geckos! The reflection on the glass was a nice bonus!

Bokeh Thursday: I See Me!

16 Aug 2013 22 7 853
This morning I was replying to comments when I ran into one of my groupmates in the Bokeh Thursday group. They had a picture up for today's theme, "In the Kitchen," and I screamed at the monitor, "AHHHHHH!! I FORGOT!!!" Well, no worries, it was the morning, but it's so much fun to get dramatic! :D I grabbed my camera and macro flash and entered the kitchen, wondering what wonderful thing I would find for the theme. My first idea was a shiny tea strainer, and it worked quite nicely, but I wanted a second subject, so I looked for something else. Hmm...*pulling open drawers*..."OH! MEASURING SPOONS!!" It didn't even occur to me that I could turn this into a silly selfie...I started out with my flash on, and getting blown out shots from the reflected spoons...so, I turned off the flash and tried again. "HEY!!! LOOK AT THE SILLY GIRL IN THE SPOON!!!! YAYYY!!!" :D Since the spoon's reflection turned me upside-down, I did the same to this image and now you guys can see me taking this picture with the flash attachment in place but not turned on! NEATO!! Oh yeah, fun bokeh too! :D :D By the way, if you enjoy taking pictures with bokeh in them, you might be interested in this group. Lots of very nice people and we would love to have more join in the fun! Bokeh Thursday

Square/Cube! :D 213/365: "I'm not some shiny baubl…

Here is my contribution for Square/Cube! :D 4 more pictures in notes above! :) You can also find me on Facebook ! Today is Thursday and that means it's BOKEH THURSDAY!!! The theme for this week is "square", so I decided to take macros of some tiny crystal, metal, and enamel square beads that I have. I placed them on my iPad for a reflective surface and used my macro flash to get lots of shine. I settled on three different arrangements to share--this one even has a square format!--and I also got a nice one of some colorful wooden beads I have! ENJOY!! Today also marks the first day of August, and that starts another month in my 365 Project! I've included a collage of my month today as well! :) By the way, if you enjoy taking pictures with bokeh in them, you might be interested in this group. Lots of very nice people and we would love to have more join in the fun! Bokeh Thursday Courtney Milan's debut novel was published in 2010. This one has such a beautiful amethyst-colored crystal bead, I like the skewed perspective and interesting abstract quality. Believe it or not, the green crystal beads are the same size and shape as the amethyst one! They are only about 1/8" in size! :D

These wooden beads are 1/2" squares and meant to be strung onto sisal strands (a natural rope fiber) and used as a chewable toy for our parrot! The blocks are colored with vegetable food dye so they are non-toxic! :)

Yes, this is a real gourd and it grew this way!! This one just happens to look exactly like a duck! Some gourds look like swans or geese and they're actually called "Gooseneck Gourds"! :D This image was taken at Seven Oaks Farm in Central Point, Oregon on October 22, 2011.
