On Masonic Mountain southeast of Bridgeport, California, in the Masonic District. Looking northwest; the mountains on the skyline are the Sweetwater Range, in extreme eastern California. The deposit was discovered in 1909, in Masonic's heyday, but operations persisted much longer, until 1938, with some desultory activity thereafter. The metal of interest was gold.
