Eagle Creek campground and picnic area. The overlook looks downstream toward Bonneville Dam, less than a mile away. I believe this trail was built by the CCC, but it doesn't seem to get much use now.

Said to be the first campground build by the USFS, in the teens of the last century. The CCC put in major improvements (including this building) in the 1930s, but at least this part of the campground seems in disrepair. I was there in mid-June, so it should have been tourist season. I gather the building is still used for occasional functions, but I don't know why the campsites were closed. The area is just upstream from Bonneville Dam.
