Turkeys are native to North America, and have been reestablishing themselves in much of their historic range in recent decades. I don't know whether the flocks here have been reintroduced, however. The two larger birds are probably males--i.e., toms. They're obviously at risk hanging out on the road! As with us and the car ahead, tho, people were slowing down to take pictures.
