In extreme eastern California. Looking north; California highway 89 comes down the slope on the left at the far end of the valley. The farther mountains skylined on the right are the Pine Nut Range in Nevada. The north end of Slinkard Valley is a California wildlife area. (And yes, we got a bit of rain later!)
