Looking eastward from the flanks of the Snake Range, Nevada, in Great Basin National Park. The range on the skyline is the House Range; the prominent peak near the center is Notch Peak (where I did a lot of field work Back In the Day...) The lower mountains in the middle distance are the Confusion Range. The Nevada-Utah state line goes across the pic roughly horizontally in the flats in the foreground. The outlined buildings are a small motel-casino right at the state line on US 6-50. Most paved highways into Nevada have at least a little casino at the state line! US 6-50 can be vaguely seen trending at a shallow diagonal from lower left across the flat. US 6 and US 50 coincide here, between Ely, NV and Delta, UT, a distance of about 100 miles.
