Looking upstream from the footbridge where it's crossed by the Pacific Crest Trail. Just off California State Route 49 near the Sierra Buttes, in the northern Sierra Nevada. The flow is better than in the pic a couple of weeks previously because of a recent storm.

The sign's been there so long that the bark growing under it has almost bent it in half! The tree is a western red cedar. Just off the Pacific Crest Trail where it crosses the North Fork of the Yuba River on a footbridge. In fact, the sign says "North Fork Yuba." Northern Sierra Nevada, California, USA.

Below the Sierra Buttes in the northernmost part of the Sierra Nevada, California, where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses it on a footbridge. The river was flowing much better a couple of weeks later due to a winter storm. It's still in drought, however.
