On the Gunnison River, Colorado, part of the Colorado River Storage Project. (The Gunnison is a tributary of the Colorado.) It was begun in 1963 but not completed until 1971, a few years after the heyday of dam-building in the American west. It also includes hydroelectric generation with a total capacity of 120KW. The facility is upstream of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
