A generic name, but at least it wasn't pulled out of a hat! ;) Just over Mono Pass, Sierra Nevada, California. The elevation here is right at 12,000 feet--3658 m.

John Muir Wilderness, Sierra Nevada, California. The prominent drainage in the middle distance is Mono Creek. Map position is approximate, as usual. Btw, the "Mono" in these names is not the Greek word for one, but a Paiute word for brine shrimp, from Mono Lake. It's "moh-noh", too.
