University of Nevada, Reno, USA. Now the Delamare Library, which holds UNR's science and engineering collections. Mackay ("mackey") was one of the handful who made a fortune on the silver of the Comstock Lode, and left much of his fortune to found the School of Mines. As you've probably guessed, that's his statue in the right foreground. Alas, MSM was reorganized out of existence in the early 00s, the departments now split among the schools of science and engineering. And it was the only part of UNR that had a degree of international recognition--not the brightest administrative decision!

An irrigation storage pond on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno, that is now mostly decorative (note the fountain on the right!). The high rise in the distance on the left is one of the hotel/casinos in downtown Reno. Manzanita (Spanish for "little apple," from its red berries) is a characteristic shrub of the Sierra Nevada and surrounding ranges.
