New wave-cut bench along the east shore of Washoe Lake, a result of high water levels and high winds this last season. The surf was cutting into stabilized sand dunes and vegetation cover that have been there for decades, so this hasn't happened in a while! Wave-cut bench on south side. Fort Rock is a broken ring of tuff deposits from an eruptive center that was submerged during the Pleistocene. Hence there are lots of surf-erosion features such as this.
