Glacial striations in granite, nicely highlighted by the low sun angle. Near Lake Margaret, Sierra Nevada, California.

Glacially polished granite, with striations still visible, where the trail follows a bench on the way down to the base lodge for the Squaw Valley ski resort. Looking pretty much south; lift towers on the ski resort are locally silhouetted on the skyline. The gnarly tree in the foreground is a Sierra juniper, somewhat smaller than others I've photographed!
