Off County Road 441 between Gerlach, Nevada, and Cedarville, California, in Washoe County. Looking north. It's actually on private land but limited public access is permitted. The inserts show another view of the reservoir, and the dam that creates it. "Squaw" is considered derogatory these days, but embarrassingly persists in many place names, as here. Some are being changed; e.g., the "Squaw Valley" in California, site of the 1960 Winter Olympics and not far from Lake Tahoe, is now Olympic Valley. The resort there still keeps the old name, however.
