Another one of those generic names-- This Silver Lake is a small reservoir lying in the vague, very northern end of the Sierra Nevada, California. The Pacific Crest Trail is following the crest on the skyline, and there's a trailhead here that accesses it. I liked the reflections! The inset shows another view--I couldn't decide which was better. The trail also accesses Bucks Lake Wilderness--Bucks Lake, in case you're wondering, is another reservoir on the far side of the skylined ridge.

It was a millpond a couple of weekends ago. Not now; the winter storms have started! This is another glacial lake in the Sierra Nevada, California, off the Carson Pass highway (SR 88). It's a popular hike, even on a cold fall day! The insets show slightly different views. The one on the right has weirder lighting but highlights the water clarity.

Showing both (a) nice reflections; and (b) how much the water level has dropped over the summer! Most of the sandy beach was covered. Looking south.

Just off the eponymous trail, Sierra Nevada, California, in the Granite Chief Wilderness between the Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley ski resorts. Note the wake from the swimming duck! The insets show slightly different views; as usual, I couldn't decide which I liked better.
