Mule deer ( Odocoileus hemionus ) silhouetted by the twilight, observing us as we're hiking out. Just off Mt. Rose Highway in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Nevada. The prominent ears are what give them their common name!

Silhouetted granite monoliths in the Blue Mass Scenic Area, in extreme eastern Nevada. The granite has a bluish cast, at least when not too oxidized, due to its mica content. The insets show some other views in the vicinity. Alas, I didn't get many pix due to limited time!
