Tunnel Trail

Southern Nevada, USA. A hiking/biking trail that goes along the old railroad grade all the way to Hoover Dam, on the line used during construction of the dam in the 1930s. The rails were removed in the 1960s or so. There are several short tunnels along the route.

Cottonwood Wash

Lake Mohave, but still the Lake Mead National Recreation Area! Lake Mohave is backed up by Davis Dam on the Colorado River, downstream from Hoover Dam. Like Hoover Dam it also crosses the river between Nevada and Arizona. We're on the Nevada side here. Btw, "Mohave" is an Anglicized spelling of "Mojave" that's popular in Arizona but not much used otherwise.

To the put-in point

Starting the float trip from below Hoover Dam down the Colorado River. The river gradually bloats out into Lake Mohave, which is backed up by Davis Dam downstream. The take-out point is Willow Beach on the Arizona side, about 14 river miles. The air temperature was around 110 F (40 C)--you wanted to be on--or in--the water! Arizona (on the left)-Nevada (on the right), USA. Map location approximate, as per usual.
